Calgary attic performance · Climate Zone 7A

Cold rooms. Icicles. High bills.
Your attic is probably the reason.

“They found air leaks our last contractor completely missed. Warm upstairs for the first time in years.”

Sarah M. · Acadia

“Showed us photos of our actual attic and explained everything. No pressure, just honest advice.”

Dave R. · Cochrane

“Booked the free inspection, got a clear quote same day. Crew was clean and on time.”

Priya K. · Okotoks

“Our heating bill dropped noticeably after the top-up and air sealing. Worth it.”

Tom & Lisa B. · Airdrie

“Measured the depth in six spots with rulers and left us the photos. Zero pressure at any point.”

J. Morrison · Lake Bonavista

“The icicles on our eaves are gone this winter. They sealed everything before topping up.”

S. Kowalski · Huntington Hills

“Found a bath fan blowing into the attic and fixed it the same visit. Furnace runs noticeably less.”

M. Wong · Dalhousie

“Honest enough to tell us half the attic was fine. We only paid for what it actually needed.”

A. Gill · Strathmore

A local Calgary company offering a free attic photo inspection. We show you exactly what's up there, then you decide.

01 · Sound familiar?

The signs are downstairs. The cause is upstairs.

Calgary's older bungalows and two-storeys were built for a different era of insulation. Add chinook swings and −30 °C snaps, and the attic shows up in your everyday comfort, and your bill.

  1. /01

    One room never gets warm

Usually the one under the most under-insulated stretch of attic.

  2. /02

Icicles & ice dams every winter

Escaping heat melts the roof snow; Calgary cold refreezes it at the eaves.

  3. /03

    Heating bills creeping up

Up to ~30% of a home's heat leaves through the roof. You're paying for it monthly.

  4. /04

    Upstairs hot/cold imbalance

Second floors sit right under the problem, so they feel it first.

  5. /05

Frost or moisture in the attic

Warm, moist house air freezing on the roof deck. It can literally rain indoors.

  6. /06

    Old, flattened insulation

Insulation settles over decades. “Done in 1985” usually means half-done today.

what many older Calgary attics actually measure

The 60-second attic lesson

Where your heat actually goes

01 / 04

Your furnace works all winter

Calgary throws −30 °C at it; the furnace answers. Physics sends every degree of that heat straight up.

02 / 04

It finds every gap

Pot lights, the attic hatch, plumbing stacks: warm, moist air rides the stack effect through them into the attic.

03 / 04

Thin insulation can't hold it

Many older Calgary attics measure around R-12, settled and flattened. Today's standard is R-60. That gap is your heating bill.

04 / 04

Seal first. Then fill to R-60.

Air sealing, blown-in insulation, balanced ventilation. One system, done in the right order. That's attic performance.

We look. We measure.
We show you the photos.

A complete attic check-up, documented so you see everything we see. Most take under an hour.

  • Insulation depth & estimated R-value

Rulers in several spots, so you see the real number

  • Attic hatch condition

A leaky hatch is a hole in the ceiling's winter coat

  • Ventilation & baffle check

Blocked soffits trap moisture, so we check the airflow path

  • Bath-fan venting

Fans venting into the attic cause frost and attic rain

  • Visible air-leak points

Warm air sails through insulation where gaps aren't sealed

  • Frost, moisture & pest signs

Early warnings, caught before they're expensive

  • Clear photos of everything

Your own attic, which most homeowners have never seen

  • Optional thermal imaging

    Heat loss made visible

  • Same-day quote

Clear options and pricing on the spot, no pressure

05 · The way we work

“We'd rather teach you than sell you. A homeowner who understands heat loss doesn't need to be closed.”

The BETR Insulation team · new name, nearly a decade in attics

/01

We air-seal first. Most crews don't.

Insulation is a thermal barrier, not an air barrier, so warm air leaks straight through it. Sealing the gaps first is why our results last. Most bargain quotes never mention it.

/02

We treat the attic as a system.

Insulation, air sealing and ventilation work together. Add insulation but block the soffits and you've traded heat loss for a moisture problem.

/03

We measure to Calgary's real standard.

Zone 7A calls for about R-60. We measure your attic's depth with rulers, in several spots, and show you the number, not an opinion.

/04

You see the proof.

Photo and thermal documentation, before and after. We don't ask you to take our word for anything.

FAQ

Still curious after these? Call (587) 555-0100, or take the free course and out-know the next contractor who rings your doorbell.

01 Is the inspection really free?
Yes. Free and no obligation. It's how we earn work in the neighbourhood.
02 How long does it take?
Under an hour for most homes. We photograph and measure the attic, then walk you through exactly what we found.
03 How much does attic insulation cost?
It depends on what your attic needs, and that's what the free inspection determines. Most homes land between $2,500 and $5,000.
04 I already have insulation. Do I need more?
Often yes. Insulation settles and flattens over the years, so the R-value drops even if it looked fine when installed. The free inspection measures what you actually have today.
05 What R-value do you recommend?
About R-50 to R-60, Calgary's current standard for a cold climate (Zone 7A). Curious what that means? The Attic Academy explains it in two minutes.
06 Do you offer a warranty?
Yes, a 10-year workmanship warranty on every install, plus before/after photos so you can see exactly what was done.
07 Are there rebates?
There may be rebate or financing options depending on the current programs. We'll point you to the details and help you verify. We never promise a specific amount.
